Hartford Education Foundation, created in 2002, is a community-based
nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting excellence in the Hartford
Public Schools. It supports innovative programs, partnerships and
collaborations to improve the quality of education for all children
in the Hartford Public Schools. We work with, but are independent of,
the Hartford Public Schools.
We are advocates for community involvement, helping to put the public in
public education
We are advocates for accountability, expecting measurable results
from all those who participate in local public education
We are advocates for excellence, encouraging innovative
practices and programs that make public education better.
We generate resources, facilitating investments in public education by private,
public and philanthropic sources.
Hartford Education Foundation serves more than 2,100 teachers and
administrators and 24,000 students. We seek to do this by implementing
key programs. We launched Teacher Grants in spring 2003.
With the goals of encouraging innovation and excellence in teaching and
learning, Teacher Grants provide opportunities to enhance teaching
strategies in core academic subjects, support teacher creativity, and
increase student motivation and achievement.
