Overview and Criteria
Purpose
The purpose of the Hartford Education Foundation
Teacher Grants is to provide educators and schools with a
new source of funding to assist them in developing and implementing
innovative programs and creative opportunities which enhance the
students learning experience.
Teacher Grants are intended to
- Enhance the quality of the students' educational
experience
- Focus on improving the quality of teaching and
learning
- Support and complement the students' current
curriculum
Criteria for project
- Clearly stated and integrated into the HPSS
curriculum
- Clear and realistic goals
- Realistic and measurable outcomes
- Detailed and realistic budget
Grants are awarded on merit
- $300-$500 grants are awarded for a classroom-based
project.
- $500-$1000 grants are awarded for a programmatic or
a team/school based project.
Teachers Grants will support enrichment activities in the arts,
sciences or social sciences, and literacy. Funded activities will
include interdisciplinary projects and visiting artists, as well as
collaborative efforts with other schools and projects that directly
involve parents or members of the community.
Who Can Apply
HPSS teachers and school staff members - media
specialists, counselors, physical education teachers and other staff
members who work directly with students.
Not For
Ongoing, core operating support of existing
programs.
